I have a question. If your favorite politician announced (s)he were showing up for dinner tonight, what would you make?

I love to cook, and all I want is a freaking recipe for STUFFED SHELLS. I have too many specialized cookbooks, I guess. I think I will write a cook book with some of these (SIMPLE)headings in the index:

STUFFED SHELLS
Linguine and Clam sauce
Swiss Steak
Tacos
Meatballs
Spanish Rice
Chocolate Cake--just chocolate cake, not dark or velvet, or raspberry
Apple pie

1. Manicotti From Heaven
I use this recipe for Manicotti, Stuffed Shells and Lasagna!

It's from Cooking Light, so I substitute all the low fat stuff with regular.
I also use Elephant Garlic (not as strong)

Four Cheese Manicotti From Heaven @ Cooking Light

It's a HUGE HIT every time I make it, so I double up the recipe and make TWO pans (one w/o the red sauce for the kids).
Use a cake decorating bag with NO TIP to squeeze the cheese and spinach mixture into the shells.

So, when's the dinner party? Black Tie affair or WHAT?

2. Try the Meatloaf, too!

I like this Two-Cheese Meatloaf (also @ Cooking Light) but I make it a FOUR-CHEESE meatloaf by adding provolone and a little feta cheese in. The key to this recipe is which dijon mustard to use: each one has its own distinctive flavor.

You can also add in a little finely-chopped green pepper and saute with the onion (I use Vidalia onion when in season - I always buy a 10# bag at the farmer's market so I don't run out!)

I double the meat, divide in half and make another pan of Mama's Meatloaf!

3. Thank you
Try this with your meat loaf:

(good old) Mashed Potatoes (Great Grandmother's instructions)

peal and cube your potatoes and boil them gently in chicken broth
drain and mash
add butter and milk
use a mixer to stir together
add a shitload (in gram's words) of sourcream and whip till a light consistency
let sit on the stove to "set" for btwn 10 & 15 minutes

mmm, now that's "normal" food.

5. You see, this is what I mean: the Angry Old Cookbook
we need to come up with a recipe book that just dont need no 'xplaining. that lasagna menu of yours is one of my favorites, too.

How about "AngryOldCooks" for a title, or "JustARegularFolksCookbook," and, subtitle: "we just like good food."

We could publish it and make money for Democrats or to help defeat Blackwell or something (on second tho't, if it were to benefit causes that would help defeat Blackwell, we would have to subtitle it by some angry name, like, "to hell with Blackwell, we are gonna eat supper tonight, and we're gonna like it (in spite of him)....
