The Ohio Project

Last night, I attended a great Los Angeles fundraiser sponsored by the group, "The Ohio Project." The organization was created by an Ohio native who moved to Los Angeles, but wanted to do something to help swing her crucial home state to John Kerry. She took the initiative of forming her own political organization (not sure whether it's a PAC, a 527, or something else), and with the help of award-winning advertising copywriters who have done work for MoveOn and Feminist Majority (among others), The Ohio Project will be running powerful ads in major Ohio newspapers.

Personally, I love them, and the types of messages present within the ads have been tested extensively. They have demonstrated themselves to be very effective among swing voters, and particularly among women.

Last night's fundraiser probably brought in close to $10,000, but please consider supporting this organization as well. As you probably know, we are not talking about major media markets, and you can accomplish a LOT with a relatively small amount of money. Based on the organization's literature:

$50 will buy an eighth-page ad in the Canton Repository
$100 will buy a quarter-page ad in the Youngstown Vindicator
$150 will buy a half-page ad in the Cincinnati Enquirer
$250 will buy a full-page ad in the Cleveland Plain Dealer
