Paul Hackett On New Air America show this Sunday, State of Belief
Edited on Fri Jan-20-06 02:56 PM by bettyellen
if your station doesn't broadcast on weekends, you can go to the sight monday to stream it.

"State of Belief," the new, much talked about Air America Radio show on religion and politics, announces a terrific show for Sunday, January 22, building on the great success of the first show.

This Sunday's State of Belief features Paul Hackett, US Senate candidate from Ohio, declaring, "I don't go to church to get my politics anymore than I elect politicians to give me my religion!"

And host Welton Gaddy explains, "I am doing this radio show because I want to hold up an attractive alternative to the Religious Right. I want to provide information and tools for action for all interested in working together for the good of all people regardless of their posture toward religion. In my vision, State of Belief, is, at least in part, to promote the proper role of religion in the nation, and thus, to prevent the Religious Right from hijacking religion and stealing our nation."

Chris Hedges, noted war journalist and author of War is a Force that Gives Us Meaning and Losing Moses on the Freeway: The 10 Commandments in America, is in the studio. Activist Sarah Eltantawi offers a compelling commentary on how the progressive Muslim movement is working with other progressive religious groups in America. And a student from Georgia explains how religion and politics intersected in her life -- in this case, in her biology classroom.

State of Belief talks about religion and politics in public in all the ways you're not supposed to. Through interviews with newsmakers and celebrities and field reports from around the country, State of Belief explores the intersection of religion with politics, culture, media, and activism. Welton believes that religion and radical freedom are best friends. And that the Religious Right is wrong – wrong for America and bad for religion.

1. Is Mr. Hackett getting or taking any reasoned-out advice
this is a bad idea.

I am starting to get the feeling he thinks if he cant get the support he wants from Ohio, he'll try to battle it out nationally. I guess he's got nothing to lose.

Frankly, whether I was a Sherrod Brown supporter or not, I dont want a screamer representing me on Capitol Hill.

Beam me up, Scottie.

I guess you must not be aware that Air America Radio is broadcast in four major Ohio radio markets.
