Parsley calls allegations over political activity baseless
1/20/06

“A conservative pastor who is the subject of an IRS complaint filed by other clergy members said today he has done nothing wrong. At a news conference, Rev. Rod Parsley of World Harvest Church in suburban Columbus said the complaint against him is without merit.

‘The complaint was filed because a group of people apparently think that certain Americans don't have the right to religious freedom of speech,’ Parsley said. ‘It seems that if you stand for biblical values of morality, they would prefer you to simply be silent.’

Parsley said the allegations of improper political activity were made by liberal ministers with their own political agenda. He dubbed the group the ‘anonymous 31,’ because he said most refuse to identify themselves.

‘The bottom line in all of this is the constitutional right of every minister of the gospel to speak out on moral issues as a spiritual leader in the community, within the guidelines of federal tax law,’ Parsley said.
