On forming the Democratic-NPL Underground
Aside from the official Democratic-NPL party, what Democratic organizations are there in North Dakota?

Do we have a grassroots organization? If not, we should become it.

If we have some sort of (somewhat)formal organization with a website it'll be easier to recuit new people and get activism going. We can use the DU ND state forum as the message board.

I looked and demnplunderground.com is available. If we can scrape together a few bucks we can buy that or another name and some webspace.

Good idea, bad idea? Got ideas on stuff we could do?

1. Do you know any of the folks who tried to organized a Progressive Caucus
at the convention? We would need to start with those folks. They are laregely the people who were invovled in teh Kucinich campaign, and the only one I really know is Lew Lubka.

I have a Yahoo Group you might wish to visit, but which I have not been able to get to take off.

One reason the progressive caucus didn't meet threshold is that some people were in the labor caucus (from which the woman who runs the peace activist group in the state was elected as a national delegate).

2. that's why it would be nice to have a website
yahoo groups are okay, but something more specific to the organization would be good.

I program php/sql - the website could have database driven stuff.

On the subject of a Progressive Caucus, I'll ask again: Who here is interested in a meeting or series of meetings in the state to organized an effective progressive caucus inside the Democratic-NPL Party?

We would need to thrash out 1) what do we stand for and 2) how can we effectively pursue those policies?

If you're interested, please consider joining up here so we can begin some organizing:

6. a little late, but still a solid plug
UND has an active chapter of College Democrats, and people who are not affiliated with the University are welcome to attend our meetings. I know, I know, school's out, but during the year we try to stay active in state politics; we sent a couple members to the state caucus last year and organized the first debate between Satrom and Boucher on our campus.

I'll post meeting times in the fall.
