Hey. Sorry I wimped out on the Memorial Day gathering...
I've been feeling blue and haven't been much fun at all. :-(

I do still want to have a State-wide gathering, and I'm serious about needing help w/ logistics.

4. We should aim for someplace reasonably accessible to everyone who wants to show up
That probably means we avoid mountains and coast.

How far east are you willing to drive?

centrally located as we can get

i am willing to drive that far. i could drive farther but, i want to make it as easy as possible for everyone in the state....

And I'm not just saying that because it's within cycling distance of my house

10. Tanglewood - Here's what I found
Edited on Mon Jun-04-07 02:47 PM by supernova
They have shelters for 60, 125, and 300 people.

This is the info for the smallest shelter (we can up depending on how many people we eventually have):

Family Picnic Shelter

Location Nestled in woods across from Tennis courts, public picnic tables close by*
Capacity 60 people
Time Periods 10:00 am - 3:30pm
4:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Cost $75
Deposit 1/2 of Rental Fee
Features No space available for games
Details Public access
7 picnic tables (8' long)
1 additional picnic table just outside shelter Restrooms
Fireplace
Grill
Water fountain
2 double outlets
4 trash cans

Wood, charcoal not provided

$1.50 per person/outside catering fee

* Surrounding public area has 20 picnic tables and 9 grills.
**************************************************************

Me again. The shelters for 125 people are $125 for the day on the weekends. The 300-person shelter is $200/day

I've been there for the NC Wine Festival but not to the picnic facilities. It is a very beautiful park and it's certainly an option.
