Anybody heard that Asheville/Hendersonville will be out of gasoline by nex
next week? They were talking about it at work today, and one person said they heard it on the news. I don't have WLOS, so I wondered if anybody else knows anything about it.

Especially if it is TRUE???

1. My first thought:
suspect an urban legend, an unsubstantiated rumor.

"Someone I know heard it on the news."

Cite, or it's not so.

4. I've been hearing similarly for Charlotte

The rumor is that a major pipeline has broken, and it will take a couple of days to fix, so if you need gas, get some now.

Unfortunately, I don't have a news source for this...

Urban legend scare story? Or real problem?

On edit, added the following:

Might also be a good idea to stock up on basic supplies, too.

6. I am not sure about Asheville, but...
I know someone in Benson and they had two stations out of gas as of yesterday and they are not expecting any for at least a week and then they say it will be up to a minimum of $3.50/gallon.

Today I spoke to an elderly couple who were filling up extra gas containers. They were panicked because their daughter just called from Clemmons and a gas station there was out.

I also know the Governor has said that they will make sure that emergency people such as police and firemen will have gas.

This all seems to add up to a bunch of outages.

7. Check out this article----
http://www.wral.com/news/4924789/detail.html

"RALEIGH, N.C. -- There may soon be relief in sight for motorists across North Carolina.

Colonial Pipeline announced that it is safely restarting its pipeline. Roughly 90 percent of North Carolina gasoline comes from the Colonial pipeline that begins in Texas and the Plantation pipeline in Louisiana, traveling through other hard-hit areas in Mississippi and Alabama.

Initial service restoration will provide between 25 percent and 35 percent of Colonial's normal operating capacity. Both gasoline and distillate service is included in this system restart. Company officials said its first priority through all of the restart activities is the protection of public safety and the environment."

8. Here are two emails I have received in the last 24 hours.....
Same thing here too. : ( I have 3/4's of a tank left. If I don't go
anywhere except where I absoulutely have too I can make it a week.
The lines are so long here at the ones that are still open that I had
to take a different street to get home. I HAVE to pick my boys up
from school it is a 15 minute drive one way. I do hate being stuck at
home! : P I know this is hard for everyone, but nothing compares to
the hurricane victims.

They may be able to get the gas up and running again but for now it immediately looks bad.
