this place is WAY more progressive than GA!

Glad to be here. I am in the triad area.Is there a lot to do to turn NC solid blue again? Yes, of course. But, compared to solid-red outlaying GA counties, this place seems like a progressives' paradise!

I've already been welcomed by the local, active Dems' club. Hell, we tried to form one in my GA county. It seemed to be going well. But, at least, there is already one here.

:hi:

2. Welcome to NC
there are certain areas of the state that are pretty progressive -
Asheville, Chapel Hill (well, the Triangle pretty much) to name a few

6. Tar-Heels and some less than good news about NC's current political atmostphere
and welcome.

Sorry to say we are going through a rough patch right now.

Our state legislature is a majority GOP in house and state senate.
First time in 112 years.

They are cutting 22,000 teachers jobs, trying to pass photo ID, and also
they want to make organized mail ballot fraud 1000 times easier.

One of the main sponsors of the photo ID bill has a confederate flag in his yard.

15. I can vouch for the Parkway being a 'must see' place - and this little corner
is very blue, surrounded by some of the most red you can imagine. Welcome to NC

8. Triad neighbor here (just over the VA line)
The Moravian heritage in Forsyth County, and the Quaker roots of Guilford County, help give the Triad region a unique flavor. As do the three "little" mountain ranges the Sauratowns, Uwharries, and Brushies. Hope you continue to enjoy living in the area. Wonder if the Triad has enough DUers for a meetup.

10. Caswell County near Yanceyville.
Nice quiet little place. Partner is from Asheville, NC via about 20 states. I'm a WV hillbilly transplanted to these litte hills..the outer end of the Uwharies. We lived in Greensboro for several years and were in SoFla, till it got too damn nuts. It IS the corner of the Bermuda Triangle ya know.
