question regarding schools in the Statesville area
my grandkids are moving there first week of January 2011, one boy 15, one girl 11. I was wondering how the schools are compared to here in west central floriduh(st petersburg area to be exact).

They will be attending public schools. Are there any things we as grandparents should be aware of, good or bad.

you can either pm me or reply in the Florida section.

Many thanx.

1. statesville is a pretty small town. The chances of someone here knowing
the specifics of statesville's public school system and answering in a timely manner is small. I went to Greensboro city schools which are about 45 minutes away and never heard anything particularly bad about Statesville.

4. I can give you some general things
In NC many high schools are on block scheduling which means 4 90 minute classes a day for your kids for a sememster at a time. All districts down here have attendence requirements (can't miss more than 10 days in a semester or you have to make up the time). EOG exams (3-8) and EOC exams (selected subjects 9-12) are big deals here. In many districts you don't pass the course if you don't pass the test. Hope I helped.
