Does anyone here work for the University of NC?
Specifically in Asheville, but any of the other campuses? I have a question about hiring... if anyone can help, I'll elaborate.

Thank you! :hi:

1. I work for ECU, and we're part of the UNC system.
Don't know if I can help, but will if possible.

2. hooray!

Thanks so much for posting, Dr. Death! I am applying for a job at UNC Asheville and just wondered if anyone here at DU might have special insight into the application process. I don't have all the qualifications they're looking for, though I have a doctorate and a lot of great experience. It very well may be university or even department-specific, but do you know how strict the 'required skills' guidelines are?

I've tried and tried and TRIED to get a foot in the door at WCU, applying for non-faculty admin. jobs as well as staff work, but have never even gotten an interview. I know university jobs are highly sought-after and the competition can be fierce, but I'm a strong enough candidate that I'd have thought I'd have gotten at least one interview out of the last 10 tries. Maybe not gotten the job, but at least been talked to. Anyway, I'd love any information you might be able to give about getting a job in the NC university system.

Thanks again for your reply.

3. Hi Flaxbee, I'll try to help if I can
I'm a faculty member at ECU. Can you tell me about what kind of job you're applying for? You have a doctorate, so I'm guessing it's faculty or administration of some sort? What is your field? Requirements vary greatly field by field, and university by university.

I practiced corporate and telecom law for 5-6 years before leaving law. The position I'm interested in is administrative; I don't have the background for a teaching position.

May I PM you tomorrow (or, rather, today, Sept. 4 - I just noticed how late it is) with details on the position, what they're looking for, and some of my details and see what you think?

edited to clarify date.
