Members and supporters march to save church

Newburgh - One line in a prayer by the Rev. William Scafidi, pastor of St. Mary Church, summed up perfectly what yesterday's march through the streets of Newburgh was all about.

"Mary, please change their hearts," Scafidi prayed.

The hearts the parishioners of St. Mary hope to change are those of the Archdiocese of New York leadership, who proposed closing the 131-year-old church as part of a realignment plan.
