Gov. McGreevey's Popularity Ratings
What's McGreevey's current popularity rating?

The numbers were low but I don't understand that. All my NJ friends like him.

I heard Treasonous Bastard badmouthing McGreevey awhile back but I can't recall what his particular complaint was.

Personally, I think McGreevey did a superb job with the train wreck Whitman left him. On more than two occasions he's done things regarding health care that have assisted me.

I like the guy. I don't understand why he's not "popular."

2. You can place a lot of it at the feet of...
The Star-Ledger, who has been at him since day 1. I asked a friend of mine if Paul Mulshine had completed a hostile takeover of S-L.

She laughed.

Mulshine is such a joyless prick.

After the speech I heard from him at the Warren Cty. Dems dinner, I would bet good money on Rockin' Jimmy getting the nod for Interior or Labor, if Kerry wins.

3. One reason and One reason Only, The lies of NJ 101.5
This used to be a good reputable Radio Station, Now It's a Right Wing Nut haven. It has several stations and covers all of NJ.
NJ 101.5 is Pure Freep evil. Fight it.

4. I will be on the lookout
At both these media outlets (101.5 and Star Ledger). My friends have indicated they wish to support McGreevey and I will enlist their aid to monitor the media outlets plus write to them (and their sponsors) regarding this coverage.

7. Yuck - NJ 101.5
:puke:

I usually listen to oldies stations. I used to go back and forth between WCBS FM 101.1 and NJ 101.5. One morning, channel surfing, I ran across NJ 101.5 and was totally disgusted with what I was hearing. Needless to say I now keep my radio strictly on CBS FM when I want to listen to music.

But now, my radio is permanently set to WLIB 1190 AM Air America! :bounce:

5. It must also be noted...
That, out here in the broccoli, the repukes, aided and abetted by developers and realtors, have started a huge and incredibly negative disinfo campaign about the Highlands Initiative. The scope of this campaign is staggering and the disinfo and flat lies on it are equally as staggering. All for the intended effect of tracking the negatives back to Rockin' Jimmy.

I have already given the DSC a heads-up on this, so they know. The repukes are going for the jugular on this issue and no tale they tell is too wild. Their method is to point to the regulations that effect developers and say that said regulations will effect every homeowner, down at the most granular level.

Now, the Highlands Initiative is not perfect. It needs tweaking, but that is a part of the Democratic Process. But the developers and the realtors and the repukes don't want democratic process, they want a firestorm. We should be the ones to bring the fire.

6. I like McGreevey. But I can see why he would rub people ...
the wrong way. He needs to go to charm school. Actually, that is a critique I would have made a year ago. I think he has begun to loosen up.

Also, the Star Ledger is a problem. The Ledger loves nothing better than to bring down politicians.

8. Lots of bad press
McGreevey's gotten his share of bad press in The Record also. He has made some bad appointments which in turn have provided ammunition, especially on ethics, which has been used against him.

10. The Record has been hammering McGreevey from Day 1
Their latest has been criticism of the "play for pay" contributions where contributors get state jobs, as though McGreevey invented it and it hasn't been going on for time immemorial.

9. I don't remember badmouthing him...
I'm just not overly impressed with him. Seems like he spends a lot more time playing party politics than governing. He's done a couple of silly things, but it's mostly just NJ politix as usual and no big deal.

But, he's inherited a lot of problems that would give anyone trouble, not the least of which is the budget. Like Florio, he walked into huge Republican deficits, this time made worse with the recession. I do admire the way he's finessed his way around that. Didn't make Florio's tactical error of a tax hike in the early months hoping everyone would forget.

I may have screamed a while back about how he axed the arts budget, but at least some of the money has been put back in.

11. I'll vouch for Jim.....
he's done a great job, considering what he was given to start with.....

101.5 really gets worse as each day goes on, I'm on the road all day long for work, so I occasionally have to tune in for the traffic reports, but I've long ago learned the exact time they come on (:03, :18, :33, :48), so I run no risk of tuning in to hear whacko right-wing nuts spout their lies and spew their vitriol toward Democrats, and Jim in particular (apparently their favorite target), boy, these right-wingers sure are an angry bunch, aren't they?????

I'm considering starting up a non-profit group to hand Prozac or something to these angry, miserable people, lighten them up a little, you know?????

12. I don't like him at all
He seems to have a lot of ethical problems. My biggest problem was whe he went on a "trade mission" to Ireland and ending up spending tons of taxpayer money on his own enjoyment. Also, he has been investigated for other things that just make me think he isn't a very nice guy. He is also so stupid. He knows he has an issue with his image on ethics and then he takes a trip to Puerto Rico that was payed by the longhsormen's union. It doesn't seem to be illegal, but it should be.

There will be a poll out from Rasmussen on the 2005 race on Thursday so we can see what that says about his reelection chances.

13. It was $11,000 and $1000 less than the amount Asscroft used to
put a stone towel over a statues boobs. And it was fully paid back in full to the state coffers by the DNC over a year ago. Jim fully owed up to the fact that it was a mistake even though the trip generated business for the state.

Boycott the GOP NJ 101.5.

15. McGreevey is a long way from stupid
But I'll agree this type of behavior is self-defeating. Why not write him a letter and ask him why he persists with it.

If you do, post back. I'm interested and others probably are, too!

Cher

p.s. you will get an answer. I have sent in numerous questions to him and an aide promptly gets back to me, even to the point of calling on my cell phone.
