What type of voting machines does NJ use?
Just moved back to NJ after 11 years and was wondering if someone could fill me in, since there's much talk around here about voting irregularities. I'm in Essex County, if that helps narrow it down.

Thanks.

1. Mixed! But no Diebolds...
http://www.courierpostonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061023/NEWS01/610230340/1006

Nineteen New Jersey counties -- including Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties -- have purchased machines made by Sequoia Voter Systems, a California company that's had isolated problems in Colorado and Illinois.

Sussex County bought machines by Electronics Systems & Software and Warren County got them from Avante.

The state has steered clear of another major supplier of voting machines, Diebold, which has been dogged by security problems after its software specifications were revealed online.

2. Thanks. I remember hearing something along those lines.
When I was living Brooklyn.

It was killing me having to wait one month in order to register. I got in right before the deadline.

3. Do you have a scorecard for our polling questions, as well?
Just found them today. Wondering what others think about them.

4. Hey Jackbeck, Welcome....East Orange IIRC ?
Essex uses the Sequoia Advantage DRE. 10,000 in the state.

IIRC Sussex replaced the ES&S with Sequoia.

Menendez HQ in Essex 973-325-1692.... $12/hr for canvassing on sat & Sun. $15/hr election day. We need 2,500 canvassers on election day. 17,000 statewide.

5. Union County uses Sequoia
DRE -- NO PAPER TRAIL

Bobby Kennedy has said these things are made for $99 -- and governments are paying $2,800 per machine.
