What the hell is going on in New Jersey?
You need to help Menedez keep that seat. We almost have the senate back. This seat was not suppose to be in play. Get the vote out. Each person in this forum, should pick up 20 voter registration forms and help people register. Take them to you Friday night football games. I am here in Pennsylvania working my ass off to make sure Rick Santorum doesn't even have to come to this state 30 days of the year. If we can get that slug out you guys can help Menedez keep his seat. On election day, knock on your neighbors doors, make sure they voted. Only the Democrats of course.

We're not the northeastern state with 2 Republican US Senators. You are.

2. We've got our work cut out for us to avoid having two GOP senators
First, we've got a real battle to prevent Tom "my priority is to eliminate the Death Tax" Kean Jr. from gaining Menendez's seat. Then, the same will go for Chris Christie in 2008.

7. Menendez lost his seat when he voted "yes" on the torture bill.
I think he turned off a lot of people when he sided with * on that one. Despite what he says in his ads, there can be no excuse for voting in favor of torture, removing Habeus Corpus, giving * the legal authority to declare anyone he wants as an "enemy combatant", and worst of all retroactively absolving him and members of his administration from the wars crimes that they have committed.

I understand the importance of getting the Dem majority, but I cannot bring myself to vote for Menendez.

10. Of course not.

But at least you know what to expect with a repuke.

edited to add: I am NOT under any circumstances endorsing or supporting Roberto's repuke opponent. But given a choice between Roberto, the repuke, and the guy whose sole platform is the legalization of pot... I'm going with the pot guy.

13. i think you're off base in that you're overestimating the intelligence
of the average voter. I don't like this vote either, but when i think of the slime Kean's people were going to put him thru i at least understand it. People aren't interested in legal technicalities, it would make him look soft on terror, which in NJ is a big deal. He'll win if we get less of loser mentality.

15. New Jersey only gave 40% of its vote to Shrub in 2000
Gore beat him by 16 points there and I would assume that the rest went to Nader. Has New Jersey lost its collective mind since then?

18. I agree, but still
New Jersey was a dark blue state in 2000 and now we're at least concerned about GOP pickups here. Did the McGreevey scandal have that big of an impact?

& Many Freeholder boards. WE do need to clean house. By the way FDU has a new poll coming out that has Menendez up 7pts

14. Isn't the main reason that even happened --
40 days before the election and libs are sayin they wont vote for Bob, they will vote Green or indie.

I just spoke to a Menendez staffer, we get the Senate, we will revisit that BIll. We the People will demand it, right. But if we don't win NOW, will we ever get the chance again?

16. If my neighbors vote for a Repub., I would be all over it. I think it is
the same old close election stuff we been played before. I know that we do need to explain to people how the Federal $$ allotments affect the states (no Federal $$ = big state income taxes and property taxes), they don't get it. One must look at the NJ/PA state governments trying to give property tax rebates, and say, WE HAVE some s'plaining to do!

That, in my opinion, was a goal of the Repubs, to cut federal money to the states, thus increase state taxing and guess what states that hit? Hint: look at FL and TX, income taxes?
