Dems cut 200 jobs from the payroll

Democrats have slashed nearly 200 Passaic County positions from the payroll over the past eight years, which contrasts starkly with Republican campaign claims of 500 unnecessary new jobs, county records show.

Financial documents indicate that 2,778 people are currently employed, compared with 2,974 in 1997, when the Democrats won control of the freeholder board. Nevertheless, the GOP has continued the view that Democrats had created hundreds of patronage jobs in the period.
