Kean mulling run for father's old job
KATHY HENNESSY

Associated Press

TRENTON, N.J. - Thomas H. Kean Jr., a state senator and son of New Jersey's popular former governor, said Wednesday he is seriously considering running against Gov. James E. McGreevey in 2005.

Kean said Wednesday it "would be irresponsible not to consider" his candidacy for governor at a time when important issues, such as government ethics reform, are not being addressed by the Democratic administration.

Before making any firm decision on a gubernatorial bid, Kean said, he wants to get through June's budget season.

"My first and foremost responsibility is to get my job as state senator done," said Kean, R-Union.

1. Kean may be more interested in the Senate in 2008
There were some rumores that he will skip the govenor's race and will instead focus on running for the Senate in 2008. However, that would probably depend on Lautenberg retiring and that may very well not happen.
