GOP corruption additions?
Howdy!

Me and another DUers, OKThatsIt are working on the "mother" of all collections of GOP corruption, crime and creepiness. This "scorecard" list is also appearing on the Randi Rhodes Show website, and we're updating it once a week. Here's the link to the post thread "State by State GOP Scandal Scorecard" which is in greatest/general discussion.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2180559&mesg_id=2180559

Anyhoo--the list is growing and growing, but we want to be thorough, so we're inviting fellow DUers to review and post links to stories about their state's GOP creeps on this thread.

Thx.

1. I would suggest you drop Ray Burton from the list

He had someone that was once in trouble for sexual assault, who later volunteered for Burton's campaign. Burton took him on, and the guy stayed with the campaign over the years in a variety of small jobs.

Unbeknownst to Burton, the guy got in trouble elsewhere for the same thing. Burton didn't know about it until someone broke the story, at which point there was pressure on Burton to resign.

Most of his constituency consider Burton quite honorable, and it's been a huge controversy in the state. Most everyone concedes that it's not Burton to blame, but one of his volunteers.

You can use him to make your list longer, but I don't think this particular one is appropriate. And the volunteer on the campaign is just a campaign worker, not an elected official.

2. Thanks for info
for sure we don't want to add anybody that doesn't rightfully belong. I'll pass on your comments.

3. LEAVE HIM ON
You didn't get the whole story. Burton kept employing the guy when he was convicted of failing to register three times as a sex offender as required by the las; when asked if he knew about that, Burton said he was "vaguely aware". Before you pull Burton, read all the press stories.

4. He knew he needed to register per the original complaint

but didn't know the later complaints.

However if you can quote a valid source to the contrary, I'll cede the point.

on edit: or his failure to register.
