Ah, but what IS this new "Move Over Law"?

It starts Monday or Tuesday, depending on which sign you believe. The signs are those large digital notice amber electric signs on the sides of 89 and 93 (and maybe Everett Tpk, but I haven't been driving that lately).

They read something like:

NEW LAW STARTS MONDAY (on I89 - I93 is saying Tuesday)
BLUE RED AMBER LIGHTS
MOVE OVER LAW

What the heck does that mean? I had to track it down, since I drive those all the time. Does it mean, lights on posts somewhere mean, if lit, you have to move over when someone wants to pass? (which you should anyway, except for certain jerks from Taxachussetts riding your ass). Does it mean an emergency vehicle behind you, you should move over (which you have to do anyway, except for amber lights).

Anyway, I tracked it down yesterday. What it's saying is that if there's any vehicle on the side of the road with those lights on (I can't recall if White was on the list too), you're now required to give it a wide berth - move over, if possible. I do that anyway, but apparently there's more than enough idiots that don't bother, putting the police/ambulance/tow truck or utility workers at risk. I guess more than a few have been clipped - I recall a few stories in the last couple of years of someone plowing into a police car making a stop, or workers or whatever.

So, that's all it is. It was just the obscurity of the sign that I didn't get.
