Woman Killed When Couple Shoots At Each Other

NEWBURY, N.H. -- A woman was shot and killed after she and her husband fired guns at each other during a dispute, police said.

Investigators said they were called to the Dion residence on Mountain Road on Sunday afternoon. Gary Dion, 37, told police that shots had been fired at his home.

His wife, Karen Dion, 38, was found dead in the driveway.

Police said that the couple was involved in a dispute, and afterward, Karen Dion grabbed a shotgun and fired it at her husband. Gary Dion then retrieved his own firearm, and, after being confronted by his wife, who still had her shotgun, he shot and killed her, police said.

Didn't work for me admittedly, but then this is a bit more drastic situation.

technically this obviously counts as a self defense shooting of course IF the facts are true as stated. It doesn't matter WHO is firing a shotgun at you it is definitely self defense to fire back.

In his own house with somebody firing a shotgun at him? Presumably someone who had access to the house? Again not enough info to be sure for now but seems pretty clear so far.

8. That depends on the timeline, and what she was doing while he was grabbing the gun.

Moreover, she still had the shotgun when he shot her, and had already fired it once. If she pointed it at him, that would probably meet the normal standard for self defense. You'd have to examine it more closely to know for certain whether it was or not.

They have to answer questions like, When did she fire the shotgun? Before she was dead? Or after?
