Is Ernie Chambers, state legislator, the real thing?
Just heard an interview on "Mother Jones Radio". He sounds almost too good to be true. Is he really the paragon of integrity he seems to be? Singlehandedly, he has apparently managed to sidetrack a lot of negative legislation (right to carry concealed weapons, etc.) Can anybody here enlighten me? SG

1. Ernie has been a marvel!

He is the WORLD CHAMPION filibuster.

If the can't be in the legislature any more, I wish he'd run for senate.

2. Time for a "Draft Ernie for Congress" campaign!
This guy needs to be heard at the national level. Thanks for answering, Liberal. As a former Cornhusker (born in Lincoln), I was intrigued to hear that this black activist had made such a mark in Nebraska, of all places. SG

4. This must be the article
that resulted from the interview that I heard on "Mother Jones Radio" (on AAR). Ernie does a hell of an interview as well--his voice rings with sincerity and concern. SG

5. Ernie Chambers is very divisive
He couldn't carry double digits in a state-wide election and would get killed in the Omaha district as well. He is a VERY smart man. I think he has sometimes used race in a way that is divisive and counter-productive to what he is trying to accomplish. On the other hand he has blocked alot of bad legislation as you said. He's probably the reason we're not even goofier than Kansas. He's good in alot of ways but it's annoying that he's not even better. I will miss him when he is term-limited out.
