"Blessed are the rich for all good things trickle down from them. Cursed are the poor for poverty results from their moral failings.

Blessed are the war makers for they keep freedom on the march. Cursed are the peacemakers for they shall be called appeasers."

1. This is an awesome letter. This is the message that our lame...
<sic> leaders should be "preaching." But they're so clueless they can never figure it out. Except for Wes of course. :D

2. Someone posted here last night...

that there was a Nun, Sister Chittister on PBS who, get this, had the nerve to talk about the beattitudes and peace. I am learning to appreciate Christians like her very much. Even being an atheist, I love the sermon on the mount and wholeheartedly believe in it. It's a beautiful philosophy. I wish some of those who called themselves 'Christian' would take it to heart because as the LTTE so aptly expressed, they seem to believe the exact opposite of what Jesus taught.

Someone else posted here last night how they heard on NPR the idea that sympathy was good but empathy was a form narcissism since we are projecting our own feelings onto others. War is good. Bigotry and oppression of a certain group of people is righteous. Torture is necessary. Slaughtering 'insurgents' is justice. Empathy is selfish, even narcissistic. I get it.

7. Sister Joan Chittister
Here's info on her appearance on NOW last night:
http://www.pbs.org/now/society/chittister.html

One of her best ideas was saying that the "pro-life" crowd is only "pro-birth." They don't give a shit about helping babies and their families after they're born. (She is anti-abortion herself, but also anti-poverty, anti-ignorance, and anti-war.)

15. Sister Joan Cittister is
and awesome speaker and writer. I have attended several of her conferences here in Nebraska. She is very disliked by the Lincoln and Omaha Diocese and has not been allowed to have conferences in Catholic facilities. She attracts throngs and if you have a chance you should attend one of her conferences if she is in your area. Wonderful and sincere person.

4. It appears that evangelist have rewritten the word of God. The Love
Thy Neighbor didn't mean our fellow man, it just meant, neighbor's like them. They have managed to transform God into a God of hate. I have to give it to them, to be able to rewrite the bible without changing a word but changing it's meaning is really a sign of intelligent men. Reminds me of Animal Farm, when they started adding to their own commandments to fit their needs. What sad times we live in.

"Blessed are those who pray loudly standing in the churches and on the corners sounding the trumpet before them. Cursed are those who shut the closet door and pray in secret for their prayers are not heard."

I LOVE that!

who fraudulently steal elections for theirs is a mandate. Cursed are those who must live under their corrupt regime.

10. Faith with out works is dead
Kerry confronted bush during the debate, that bush does a lot of meetings behind closed doors. Jesus said, people do things in darkness because their deeds are dark.
I John: 3,17 - 18 says
17: But whoso hath this world's good, and seeeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him,how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18:My little children let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
If the evangelicals knew their Bible they would know that this man bush is not righteous.
One: he has access to the world,s goods and he knows his brothers in this country are in need.
Two: he has no compassion on the middle class and the poor. So how is the love of God in him.
Three: he is arrogant and proud in word, but not in deed.
How in the name of the almighty, can the evangelicals call this man who is a liar, a man without compassion on his own country men a righteous man.

13. Thank you all very much! I am very gratified by your praise.
After I read this,I believe last Wednesday afternoon on 1110 KFAB Omaha, the host said, "Well,I guess Jesus must be a Republican". I said,"Must be". I would be gratified to see this make the e-mail rounds on the internet. Please use.norml
The "Conservative" Sermon On The Mount

Blessed are the rich for all good things trickle down from them. Cursed are the poor for poverty results from their moral failings. Blessed are the war makers for they keep freedom on the march. Cursed are the peacemakers for they shall be called appeasers. Blessed are those who inflict harsh punishments for they maintain law and order. Cursed are those who forgive for they shall be called soft on crime. Blessed are those who pray loudly standing in the churches and on the corners sounding the trumpet before them. Cursed are those who shut the closet door and pray in secret for their prayers are not heard. Blessed are those who cast the first stone for the sake of sexual morality for that is the only morality that matters. Cursed are those who see sexuality as a private matter for marriage must be defended against them.
