Nelson Praises Himself For Standing With Bush.
Now If Jesus P. Ricketts ran a campaign comercial praising himself for standing with Bush on an issue that would be one thing, but when Ben Nelson, the "Democrat" runs a campain comercial that bosts a newspaper headline "Nelson Stands With President Bush" or some such nonsense... You have to just throw up your hands in defeat. Pardon my un-Christian language but when I saw the campaing ad for Nelson my first response was "Oh for fucksake". I am not voting for this fool in November, I just can't, I feel like when I go into that booth the first Tuesday in November that I should just bend over.

1. So do something about it...
I am thinking about a little protest group at the St. Patty's day parade this saturday. Nelson will be marching, how about we shake things up a bit?

2. So what are the chances that Ben will censure Bush?
That's what I thought. I am SO looking forward to his letter explaining why I am on his permanent ignore list. Oh well, I shall fax him anyway. At least he won't be puzzled when my ballot remains unmarked in the Senate race come November.

3. Nelson
I read a piece on him in the World Herald this week that had a quote from Nelson. He was saying that he represents Nebraska in everything he does in Washington. He thinks he is the best candidate because he doesn't represent the party and he doesn't represent the president. He represents Nebraska.

I know Nelson is extremely unpopular with many of us, but there is something to be said about having someone in Washington that isn't going to tote the party line just because that is what everyone else does.

4. Nelson not toeing the party line
You think that's why he's not doing it? Because he's a nonconformist?

5. Nope.
I think he's doing it because he wants to get re-elected in an over the top red state. I don't think a real democrat can win here.

6. They can't
I listened to the Randi Rhodes show on AAR and a lady called in from Omaha, she said that there aren't any real democrats in this state and that the word "liberalism" dosen't exists in the state.

8. Bob Kerrey did it!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Kerrey

As a Senator, Kerrey had a relatively liberal voting record despite the fact that Nebraska is one of the most conservative states in the union. He was one of only a handful of senators, for example, to vote against the Defense of Marriage Act of 1996. Kerrey also led the opposition in the Senate to the proposed flag burning amendment, which failed to get the necessary two-thirds majority needed for passage. His record on economic issues was mixed but generally liberal. He voted against phasing out many farm subsidy programs, lawsuit reform measures such as the Private Securities Litigations Reform Act, and he was one of the twelve senators to vote against the Personal Responsibility Act of 1995, a welfare reform bill vetoed by President Clinton. Kerrey's record on environmental issues and taxation was more moderate, and he was a strong supporter of free trade and limiting the size of the federal government.
