1. Firsties?
Hey, you got everything fixed in FL so we don't have any more of those 2000 type problems? :P

Busy time here in the Big Sky Country. Lots of calf critters being born. We're all sorta busy right now.

I would like to report that it looks like I get to be an election day poll worker in my county. Am sorta happy about that. Wanna make sure there are no problems with our cool paper ballots and pencils. Low tech seems like a good thing in this era.

5. ya know, I used to live in LA
back when I was a kid and didn't have a say in the location. Wouldn't live there again for all the $$ in the world.

Nope, house is stucco and cozy. But we are talking of building an earthen house for our retirement  And most of the folks in the county are online these days. We got DSL long before most of you city slickers could!:P

I think I get to work at the polls cuz I am a brassy broad over 5'7" and not a native in this county. Since they now have to see identification before people can vote, I think I am there as an excuse for requiring IDs... I don't know everyone in the county like the rest of the crew. Probably expecting some annoyed responses from some of the folks. My being an outlander makes it more likely to get people to show their IDs. My being a big outlander who can charm most and intimidate the rest makes it likely no one will get too ornery about the new requirement.

Looking forward to it. Last time I worked polls was a zillion years ago when I was in school and covering the Ventura County Election headquarters for the local rag.

6. Hey there chair094 from MO!
So happens I was born in the Show Me state!

Ever come to Three Forks MT and see where the three rivers meet and turn into that stream that trickles down your way? I recall sending pictures of the Missouri between Helena and great Falls to my granny in St. Joe. Her remark: "Well, dear, it's not much of a river up at your end, is it?"

Folks here don't believe me when I describe what that river looks like at the other end. They figure the only place with that much water must be an ocean!

16. Okay, too weird
I was born in MO too, St.Louis! And yeah, the river seems to gather a little steam between Three Forks and St. Charles! Haha.

8. Hello from a former Montanan, now Oregonian.
:hi:
Born in Glendive lived in Billings and graduated from Senior in 1989 and now live in Oregon. I miss Montana, especially the outdoors and lack of people.

10. Hi, can I play with you guys?
Since there isn't an Alberta forum, this is as close as I can get. I've been to Montana lots of times, it's great. I even have a framed Charlie Russell print above my fireplace. In fact, we did the colors in the living room around it.

12. Sure, we can let you in our little club
Always looking for more liberals to play with (especially at my end of Montana). And I could use a pal in Canada as husband cannot get his favorite bleu cheese sent to the US due to the Patriot Act! (Yes, silly but true, the Patriot Act is protecting us from decent French bleu!) A pal in Canada might bring some if they happen to be heading through my little town...

Which print do you have? Ever get a chance to see Russell's bronzes? The man was amazing in his mastery of so many methods. His writing was fun too. Ever see the book Good Medicine? Has a bunch of letters and notes he wrote. Man was a witty chap.

Stay in touch, ironflange! We have to keep a watch out for all those mad cows sneaking back and forth to pastures on both sides of the border. It is Canadian hay that keeps the ranchers in my 'hood going most winters. We get lots of truck drivers from up there in town.

I've been to the Russell Museum in Great Falls a few times, wonderful place. The print I have hanging is "Fire Boat," it tells a neat story.

This is the biggest image I could find. In the off chance you're not familiar with it, that's a steamboat in lower left that they're gawking at. The one in the middle has seen it before, and has brought his friends to see. Their expressions are priceless.

We've matched the greys, blues, and purples in the picture in our interior decorating.

Which town are you in? We may be heading south this summer, though Alaska is more likely right now. I'd like to know how stinky cheese can affect national security.

edit: I looked at your other posts. Glendive it is.

14. No not Glendive, but within a couple hundred miles (you know, close by)
Town is too tiny (and too republican) to name and maintain my safety. Will PM you if you are ever heading to MT and let you know so if it is on your way, we could 'do lunch'. LOL

Yeah, we are still trying to figure how cheese is a threat to national security. Does Wisconsin have a lot of pull in Congress?

15. OK
Edited on Wed Apr-21-04 11:55 AM by ironflange
So Glendive is the "big town" and Billings is the "big city."

I guess 200 miles is "close by" in Montana terms.

17. I firmly intend to increase the Liberal Democratic
population of the state of Montana by one in a few years when I get to retire. Iowa is OK but no place compares to Montana.
