Koster to switch to Dem party and run for state AG
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A state senator dropped a political bombshell on Tuesday.

Sources told KMBC that Missouri Sen. Chris Koster is planning to leave the Republican party and join the Democrats and run for attorney general next year. Koster will hold a news conference on Wednesday.

KMBC's Micheal Mahoney reported that this is the first time in recent memory that a candidate for a major office in Missouri has switched parties.

1. Repubs never liked him much, he's pro stem-cell
and has been pushing for stem cell research and money.

But how will he fit in with the Dem side?

3. Repub party is really badmouthing him right now.
Everything I've read is "He's doing this for votes, he doesn't believe in any of this, etc".

I know he's a supporter of stem cell-knew that back when he was Cass Co prosecutor and it was brought up once. There had been rumors for some time now that he was considering the switch because one of his biggest contributors was a research company. He's also made comments about feeling left out by his own party.

Do I like him? He tends to be too moderate for me but I understand why he left his party-there really is no room left for a moderate in the Republican Party. Most have been run off.
