What's this crap about Koster/ref confined animal feeds? |
|
From what I've read he wants to take away any local control of agriculture and turn it all over to state/federal. He claims the health dept in various counties can shut down a farm for any reason; family farms have stated that this is another way to deregulate mega farms/confined animal feeding operations.
Anyone have any other info about this? I'm wondering if I can side w/ the family farmers on this one-Koster in general usually pisses me off. (And in case someone thinks I'm being silly-I used to know the man on a professional level before he ran for leg. He pissed me off back then.)
Am I ok in being pissed or should I begrudingly give him props this time?

1. Didn't Claire speak out against this during her campaign? |

Veronica Hambacker, who ran in SE MO, also talked against this plan. It sounds like just what you said, a way to give more farmland to big operations, with fewer regulations.

2. Seems like she spoke out about it. |

But this is a new bill that Chris Koster is presenting in Jeff City. It's in my local paper but the info is pretty limited.
The only reason I've really heard about it is because I went to a cafe the other day and heard a few old time farmers raising hell over it over their morning coffees and slices of pie.
