MO Senate: McCaskill (D) 45%, Talent (R) 42% (Rasmussen)
Claire McCaskill (D) 45%
Jim Talent (R) 42%

September 15, 2006
Democrat Claire McCaskill

In this fiercely competitive campaign, Democratic Missouri State Auditor Claire McCaskill now leads Republican Senator Jim Talent 45% to 42% (see crosstabs).

This is the tenth election poll showing the combatants separated by less than the margin of error. Rasmussen Reports has so far conducted eleven surveys of the contest.

1. Accuracy?
"The Fix" (Washington Post) has this race in its Top 10 list. I read a comment that McCaskill needs to pick up votes in St.Louis (reportedly no-Talent's has the edge there) or in the rural areas. Just curious as to the validity of this statement. If the college kids could 1) realize the polling places have set hours and 2) get their butts there to vote, it'd be a plus for McCaskill. My college daughter is glad the id law was struck down.

2. Do You Need Help
I heard on Ohio radio that you Demos need some help convincing the voters on what way to vote.
Brothers and sisters, all I can tell you is to look east to Ohio. Twelve years of Republican control all the way to the Supreme Court and all we have to show for it is lost jobs by the millions, higher taxes, billions of dollars lost in hedge funds that went south, house leaders indited for fraud, a governor convicted of taking illegal money and worst of all a Supreme court that has ruled that our states funding of our schools was unconstitutional years ago and even when in power all they can manage do is to play golf with the biggest lobbying crook in American history and steal from the state.
If you want a taste of this, talk to someone from Ohio, dem or repo , it’s doesn’t matter. We've all learned the hard way and don't want to see this pay to play shit spread through out the country by the Neocons that wish to run our county.
How about a minimum wage rate of 5.15 an hour, how would you like that. If I had time I could list almost twenty government people that have either paid a fine or are working with the A.G. office to help convict bigger fish.
Is this what you guys want for your state, well go for it. I almost missed the biggest, we made the voting machine that will screw everyones vote in the United States dam soon.

3. In St. Louis?
well, maybe in the county, but Talent sure doesn't have an edge in the city. Heck, the city is so blue that the REAL race for mayor is always the Democratic primary. The subsequent general election is essentially a formality.

I haven't seen any Talent bumper stickers around St. Louis. None. I still see W stickers and other GOP stuff, but not Talent. I have, however, seen a number of McCaskill bumper stickers (I don't have one...but then, I'm not sure where to get one). I think they're overplaying Talent's appeal in St. Louis...maybe so it won't seem so shocking when Diebold and ES&S give him the election.

4. No Talent is NOT up in St Louis
I'm not sure where they are getting that information. He may be up in some of the suburbs, like St Charles or Wildwood, but no way in the city. People here use his name as an explative.
