Wife of U.S. Rep. Ike Skelton dies

Susie Skelton, the wife of longtime Congressman Ike Skelton of Missouri, died this morning at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, his office announced today.

Susie Skelton, 69, suffered a heart attack at their Lexington home. She had a birthday Friday, and the Skeltons celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in July.

The congressman and his family are asking for thoughts and prayers in the coming days, officials said, and memorial arrangements will be announced later
