Dear Ms. XXX: Thank you for taking the time to contact me concerning the Count Every Vote Act (S. 450).
As you may know, the Count Every Vote Act was introduced on February 17, 2005 by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and was referred to the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration.
This legislation calls for a paper ballot to be generated for every electronic ballot cast, uniform provisional ballot standards, and for the Federal Election Assistance Commission to write standards ensuring uniform access to voting machines and election personnel in every community. Please know that, as you request, I will take a close look at this legislation when it comes before the full Senate for a vote and that I value your advice. Thank you once again for contacting me. If I may be of further assistance to you in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me again. Sincerely, Norm Coleman United States Senate
