Quiz: Which Minnesota politician does this signature belong to?
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 08:42 PM by Dickie Flatt

This is one of the more bizarre signatures I've seen.

Answer: It's our governor, Tim Pawlenty. Here's a handwriting analysis from a few years back:
It's more of design than writing. Pawlenty's seatmate in grade school might have been the artist formerly known as Prince.

There are theories on such illegible signatures.

One theory is that the writer doesn't want the pubic to know who they are -- perhaps from a sense of personality inferiority. Another thought has it that illegible signatures (and handwriting) stems from a sense of a superiority.

That is, the writer doesn't believe the larger world is worthwhile communicating with.

3. I am reminded of a line from "Steel Magnolias"
When Olympia Dukasis' character says to Shiry MacLaine's character "You have the handwriting of a serial killer."

4. My wife's is like that
Hers is a mess mostly because she doesn't like her handwriting. She's also dyslexic, and doesn't like to write because it's difficult for her.

5. Interesting analysis
My ex does the same thing- only the first letter of his first and last name are clearly legible.
Sense of superiority- yep, goes along with the smirk.

6. That's about as bad as Bush's (which is a scrawl too)
I used to live in Iowa and collected a lot of autographs. So here's the opposite, I think, to Pawlenty's when it comes to cursive writing :
