Words will haunt

A March 17 letter stated that George W. Bush "has never claimed that Social Security is in a current crisis."

Actually, in a speech on Social Security on Dec. 16, 2004, Bush twice said "the crisis is now."

This fear-mongering is why we can't trust Bush.

It's amazing the amnesia that afflicts the American media. With all the film footage at their disposal, they continually let Bush get away with claims he never said this or that. Good for you for not letting them get away with it.

Bush declaring SS a "crisis" is like parents with a newborn baby declaring a crisis because they don't have college expenses all squared away when the kid is a week old.
