Mark Dayton and Norm Coleman both support Congressional interference
into judiciary in Terri Schiavo case.

How Minnesota's delegation voted
Paul Sand, Star Tribune Washington Bureau Correspondent
March 22, 2005

Democrat Mark Dayton and Republican Norm Coleman both supported the measure.

Dayton spokeswoman Chris Lisi said he based his position "solely" on Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist's Thursday floor statement. In the speech, Frist, who is a medical doctor and reviewed video footage of Schiavo, said she is responsive and that more time is needed to determine her fate.

Coleman said that Schiavo had been given "what amounts to an unjust and undeserved court ordered death.

"There is nothing just, nothing natural, nothing compassionate about forbidding a family from feeding their disabled daughter," he said.

1. assholes
making a judgement by just seeing a video tape...is this how they made a decision to go into Iraq too? Video footage is not a first hand account. Total assholes.

2. The Congresswoman from Florida took care of Frist last night...she
delivered a very intellecutal and fact based comeback to the Frist comments after watching her on a video tape (for which he is being criticized for medical ethics).

P.S. Watch for that Congresswoman - she is excellent - delivery, determination, and knowledge. And no crap.

3. Welcome to Right To Life America
All the moderate Democrats running for the Hills.

Frist should have his medical license pulled for making a statement like that.

4. I expected it from Coleman, but Dayton disappoints me

He should know better than believe anything Frist says.

There was a doctor from the U of M on the news who had examined Schiavo personally, Mark should have done more research on medical opinions.

Meanwhile, my mom called me tonight, frothing at the mouth, over Dimson's comments about "erring on the side of life." She can't believe people can't see the hypocracy when he's killing people in Iraq and never, ever erred "on the side of life" when it came to the death penalty in Texas.

5. Show your Mom this Washington Post article
She'll probably be relieved to see that an important newsaper also noticed the hypocrisy:

6. Thanks, Eric
Good article, Mom will enjoy. I liked this part about Bush interrupting his vacation:

"It was the first time this president had interrupted a vacation to return to Washington, although it was not the first time an emergency had intruded on Mr. Bush's stay at his ranch, as happened when violence between the Israelis and Palestinians escalated over Easter week in 2002."

Bush has disappointed social conservatives by not spending more of his political capital to push for their key issues, such as constitutional amendments to outlaw gay marriage and abortion.

But here was a chance for Bush to give them something of value without too much political sacrifice -- although the personal sacrifice should not be underestimated.

Bumiller reports that when Bush boarded Air Force One in Texas yesterday, "His manner was crisp and businesslike, and he did not smile as he usually does at onlookers and the small group of reporters who accompany him."

Well, I don't think I've ever seen Bush look as sour as he does here or here. Those are Associated Press photos taken as Bush stepped off Air Force One at Andrews Air Force Base yesterday afternoon.

My proposed caption: "Karl, did I really have to go back to Washington for this?"

8. Dayton has ranted long and loud about being shafted by Condi Rice and
other 'leaders' when they present high level info to committees that later turns out to be insufficient, tweaked or outright lies.

I'm giving Dayton a slight benefit of the doubt and hope he did this to put all the responsibility and bad press on Frist's padded shoulders.

There's no doubt Mark Dayton trusts NONE of them - he's said as much more than a few times publicly.

10. I'm glad that docs can diagnose things from watching
a video tape. From now on I won't need to take time off from work to visit a doctor's office. I'll just send a tape and my doc will be able to tell me exactly what ails me from watching the tape. What a crock. And WTF is wrong with Dayton? He actually believed something that came out of Frist's mouth? If he's that gullible I'm REALLY glad he's not running again.

11. Coleman is one thing. But Dayton should know that Congress
should not, cannot overrule the courts and medical experts.
