Okay, the Pioneer Press says Kerry's lead is only 4 points...
What do the real polls say about Minnesota.
Or are we really a swing state now?

(I can't find the poll online, but it was on the front page of their paper today. I nearly choked when I saw it.)

1. It's on line but you have to register
In Minnesota, Kerry holds narrow lead
Poll results confirm state as presidential battleground
Democrat John Kerry holds a slim 3-percentage point lead in Minnesota over President Bush, according to a new statewide poll. The poll shows 44 percent of Minnesota voters would vote for Kerry, while 41 percent favor Bush. Two percent support independent candidate Ralph Nader, while 13 percent are undecided.

3. Seriously, it's not that big a deal
Factoring the poll's margin of error (±5%), the race is a statistical dead heat between Shrub and Kerry. However, it's really not that big a deal, and here's why:

First of all, there's a very large undecided block-- approx. 15%, IIRC. This is WAY too many undecideds to make the poll relevant. Also, the election is still five months away-- which is plenty of time for opinions to change one way or the other.

If this were late October and we had the same results, I might be worried. But it's not, and it's little more than a conversation piece right now.

They're not exactly unbiased here.
I should go to bed. I'm rambling in my posts and editing them on the fly.

6. No worries, mate
Yeah, the PiPress is usually not known for their "liberal bias" like the "Red Star" of Mpls. Buy NPR was the cosponsor of the poll. Then again, according to FAIR, they're not exactly "liberal" either.

5. I thought Zogby had better numbers
for our state. I'll have to see if I can find them.

7. Yeah, wasn't Kerry 11 pts ahead in their poll?
I think I'd trust Zogby more than an organization called "Mason/Dixon". What next, a poll showing that most whites favor slavery?
