Hi Everybody,
Only four people showed.
Lea Anne ( the MoveOn volunteer) was waiting in the parking lot alone when I arrived. She was glad to have some company. Two more people showed a few minutes later.
Lea Anne had a set of instructions from MoveOn that detailed the process. MoveOn had also sent a
nice looking version version of the
Theses on simulated parchment. I thought that the "
posting on the door" was going to be a
metaphorical thingy, and that we would actually hand the
Theses to the highest ranking rep at DFL HQ to pass on to the DNC. But no, we actually sprayed glue on the front door and stuck the Theses to the glass. There were some DFL people still in the office, and they were sorta peeking out of the windows at us.
I was not very comfortable at this point because our local DFL has done a good job providing us with progressive representation, fighting the Taxpayers League, and winning elections. They are NOT for whom the Theses was intended, and I wanted them to know this. The front door was locked, but someone eventually let us in. Their rep (I forgot her name, but will find it)was warm and friendly. She was familiar with the Theses, and agreed to forward our concerns to the DNC.
I congratulated them on their wins in November, and their protest at Kennedy's and Klein's office earlier in the day. (They were happy about those and were glad we knew about them). We were able to voice our disappointments with the DNC, the campaign of 2004, the discarding of liberal positions from the National Platform, and the steady slide of the Party to Republican Lite. We were invited and encouraged to participate and be very vocal in the "DNC Listening Tour" on Dec. 3rd. (Be There)
I invited alot of people to join us here at DU.
I took some pictures, but the light was fast fading and I didn't have a flash. These two are the best I could do.
Keep the Faith!
