Disheartening to see the Catholic Bishops acting like Right Wing Evangelicals.
Reading today in the Strib that the Bishops want to rally and get out the vote against gay marriage. That is it for me. The very last thread of decency that I held for the Catholic Church is gone. I grew up Catholic. I went to Private Schools. I attended Church sometimes twice a week as a young person. I attended Church bake sales and managed to force myself to still go to Christmas Mass once in a while for my parents' sake.
No more. Not even the smallest thread of respect is left in me. In my opinion, the Catholic Church, by loosing many of its' members and lack of Priests being ordained is up against the ropes and has joined the Evangelicals and all the extremist Groups, in hopes of maybe still appearing like the "Head" of something. I dunno. It is sad. Revoke their tax exempt status. All of them!
This is going to tear our Country apart even more. It will tear families apart also.

1. I saw that too, it was really disgusting
Nienstedt and the bishops of Winona and Crookston are the most vocal in all this (want promotions). It is unfathomable they are going to try to organize parishes to do this. This will make the rifts even worse.

2. Yes. It will move the Church, Parishes and people into disaster.
I am horrified and deeply saddened.

4. And bring about the red hat for Nienstedt
which is what this is all about, another line on his resume for his promotion (and maybe Archbishop level for the Winona and Crookston bishops).

3. It may be the best thing that ever happened to local Episcopalians
My parish has a lot of GLBT former Catholics, including a couple of former priests.

7. Drove by St. Charles Barromeo in Minneapolis today and saw
a hug banner draped and lots of yard signs on their property for "40 Days For Life". Who bought the signage for these people? Did they just take Church money to do this? The organization is out of Texas and appears to be targeting Planned Parenthood Clinics as well as medical facilitite.
I think this should be viewed at this point as harassment. Take a look at the people behind this political movement.
