MN's loser Gov candidate. Emmer attends ALEC meeting as working press

Former Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer spends a lot of time criticizing the media on his conservative talk-radio show.

But earlier this month, the former legislator eagerly joined the ranks of the working press to get out of paying admission at the conservative American Legislative Exchange Council annual meeting.
Emmer said Thursday he went down to the conference in New Orleans intending to pay the admission price, which ranges from $295 to $695 depending on affiliation.

Then he walked over to the table where journalists are credentialed and had an idea. He said he told them he was a radio show host for a station owned by Clear Channel Communications and asked if that qualified him for a press credential.

At first, he said, the people at the registration booth were skeptical. Emmer then said another attendee came up and said they listened to his show and loved it.
With that, Emmer said he was given media access.

“I wore a press credential the entire time,” Emmer said, noting the press pass had pink on it. “So I was a member of the pinko press.”

Emmer was so proud of his hew status that he showed his press credential to other Minnesotans attending the group, including former state Rep. Laura Brod.

“I told her, I never thought I’d be doing this,” he said, reflecting on having press credentials at a conservative event.

1. Here is what I posted in the comment section of Star Tribune
but it didn't show up yet.

So is that the American Legislative Exchange Council ?? where corporations fund seminars to teach state legislators what to say and give them a list of "model" legislation that they can chose from that benefits Corporations profits and cheats the voters ?

Is that ALEC. The one that has State Bills like Voter ID that our own Mary Kiffmeyer "authored" that happened to be almost exactly the same in several other states and the that that privatized prisons that Emmer "authored" a couple years ago that was almost exactly the same as in other states ?

Is it the same ALEC that the KOCH brothers funded and you can see on You Tube by putting in American Legislative Exchange Council? where you can watch various US Republican Congress members advise state Legislators on how to stay on the talking points, on how to privatize schools, on how to get rid of unions etc...
Maybe Emmer can let us know who the other MN Legislators are that were at the ALEC convention, since ALEC organization would never tell and the MN GOP Party is telling.

To learn a whole lot more about ALEC see below

2. I saw that!
I was floating around the Strib's website at lunchtime today. I can't post from the office and often wonder why I torture myself reading the comments out there when I can't respond, but I did see quite a few attached to that article, including yours, that gave me hope that the wingnuts don't completely control that site any more.
