Have you flown from MSP this year?

If so, what was your experience with scanning-and-frisking?

1. I have. No scan. No frisk. Just the usual metal detector and

x-ray of carry-ons. Only a small percentage get the scan thing. I didn't see anyone objecting who was going through it. Everything was running smoothly. I'll be flying again on Thanksgiving day to California. I expect no problems. If I get scanned, I'll get scanned. :shrug:

BTW, in my opinion, MSP has the most polite TSA security people of any airport I fly through.

2. I haven't flown for several months

but only went through the reqular scanner.

If you're flying at one of the busier times of day get there early; MSP has the slowest security lines I've dealt with (not that I have that much experience).

3. No changes that I've seen.

The line was very fast and efficient; no groping or fondling.

4. They seem to be efficient at MSP

MIA, on the other hand . . . bunch of amateurs. We are going to Fort Lauderdale in January and I hear it's worse there.

5. I've only flown out of the Humphrey Terminal this year

Pretty fast and efficient, but not as fast and efficient as Portland.

But anything is better than O'Hare, especially when you're off an international flight, so jet-lagged you can hardly see straight, and then you have to go through the world's longest and slowest security line before boarding the flight to Minneapolis, even though you haven't actually left the airport.

9. I've been in longer security lines, but not in the USA.

I was in costa rica and there was one security guy for about 3 airplanes. Luckily a party broke out because some dude had a guitar and other people waiting had some booze and food and we passed that around and a good time was had by all while we waited about 3 hours in line. I love that part of the world...

6. I just won't fly anymore.

I tried to cure my fear of heights by parachuting solo many years ago, but it didn't work - just intensified it. Although truly it was the most exiting rush of my life, I am almost manic about heights now worse than ever.

My very first experience in 1969 was magical though! Flying from Wisconsin to California alone as a high school senior high above the clouds --- just wow man! Other flights afterwards were also enjoyable in a big plane. Throughout the years - small planes, not so much.

And the parachute jump a couple of decades later was so breathtaking and I was so scared, that I briefly fainted/passed out. Thankfully, the arm-strapped radio guy jolted me awake and talked me down safely. The biggest thrill of my life, by far was in Baldwin, Wisconsin.

And then 9/11 intensified fear of flying even more-so. And then add in the scanning and frisking? I will never ever, ever fly again.

7. I set off the metal detectors every time.

I won't use the scanners, so I ask for the feel-up. They're pretty respectful and courteous.
