Hey, Amy wrote me...finally...and 3 times!
After years of writing (and calls, and a few office visits), Amy wrote me! Like, 3 times in less than 2 weeks.

Gee, I haven't heard from her since...well, it's been a long time since I even received a non-response response (seemed like I only rated the immediate auto-response...it's OK! I figured her staff was busy writing non-response responses to the rest of you! Yes, DFL Princess, you know you love those emails.). ;-)

So first email was the post-Christmas, pre-New Year's, "Happy Holidays!". With a reminder she had a 12/31 filling deadline (note Contribute button). .
Then day or so later, the same email forwarded with a "hey, just wanted to make sure you saw my email ". And, yes, I had.
So, today, she wrote me about the filibuster because she's working with (name dropping) Gillibrand, Udall, and Merkley. Which is really important. And ends with the Contribute button.

So, yes, Amy's re-election campaign has started. I know, I know, I can hear your cheers now.

But she just couldn't respond or even write occasionally the last 4 years?! And now we'll get 2 years of Contribute Button Emails.

1. I'll bet you'll be getting a lot of these - especially at the end of each quarter.
I haven't received a single one. I wonder if I should feel snubbed or guess that maybe someone in her office actually read one of my emails and decided it wasn't even worth asking me for money.

I love the 2nd email you received - just in case you didn't get the first one.

Perhaps we should all put our heads together and come up with the nondonation-donation response that will leave them thinking maybe you sent money but for some reason it didn't show up in the account.

3. Just reply to the emails
with an enthusiastic response praising Amy's various "accomplishments." I'd start with the baggage fees and work down from there. End the email with "Here's my donation to thank you for everything you've done." or something like that.

Think she'll get the hint?

Damn. Now you got me thinking I should sign up for Amy's emails.

And don't forget to send an email from Stephen Hemsley thanking Amy for voting to keep the tax cuts for the rich. If you don't want to set up a bogus gmail or yahoo email account for that, just use the form on Amy's website. Here's a link for your convenience ;) : http://klobuchar.senate.gov/emailamy.cfm

4. Can't believe you didn't get 'em too
That's strange...why me then? Maybe it was my recent plea to "stand with Bernie Sanders" (yeah, I know, I know...). I'll see what else I get. 3 in 2 weeks is pretty funny.

I like the nondonation-donation idea. Let's do it.

7. Ah, I see the problem.
Amy didn't get your last email because it contained the word "stand" and was thus automatically deleted by the filter for her mail program. Luckily, she doesn't need to filter that word on her outgoing mail because there's 0% chance that it will ever appear.

For Amy to "stand with Bernie Sanders," not only would she have to cross the aisle, she'd have to cross over into a whole 'nother world. Of course, we all know that's not going to happen but good for you for letting her know that some of us are actually paying attention.

2. Well, I guess you can't say that Amy never responds to your emails.
Three times in two weeks? What more can you ask for?

And it looks like Amy is in really good company. The Strib had and an article on Dec 28th entitled "Let the fundraising begin: Klobuchar, Bachmann ask for end-of-year donations."

Here's a snippet:

"The 112th Congress has yet to be sworn in, but Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Rep. Michele Bachmann are already preparing for the next election 23 months away.

Klobuchar, Bachmann, and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee all sent fundraising e-mails to supporters Tuesday, urging them to start donating for 2012 before the end of 2010.

The DSCC’s letter, written by new chair Sen. Patty Murray of Washington, admitted “it is early” to seek donations as it asked for money, while Klobuchar’s letter sought contributions before the “December 31 end-of-year deadline.”

Both Democratic fundraising pleas warned about a post-Citizens United world of outside spending and special interest money going after Democrats, a 2010 fundraising theme that will likely continue over the next two years."

Of course, this presents a bit of a dilemma for me as with both Amy and Michele begging for money at the same time, I'm having a hard time deciding who to donate to first. :puke:

5. Yes, you're right...should be grateful
Although when I wrote about Real Issues where I wanted a response, or (more importantly) action. Oh, I'm just so picky.

Spike, you just make sure you spend enough time debating: Amy or Michelle, Michelle or Amy? (I know some are convinced Michelle will run against Amy, but I don't think she will...after all, Amy's approval ratings are very high. Meanwhile, Al's are even, and he's been doing a great job!)

8. A response from Amy on a real issue? Ha! That's like asking her to take a stand
on something other than baggage fees and cell phones.

Good news! Looks like I might not have to pick between Amy and Michele after all since recent news reports state Bachmannn might be looking at running for President instead. Oh please please please let her pick Palin as her running mate.

I bet T-Paw is just steaming. First McCain picked Palin over him and now he might have to be up against Batshit Crazy Bachmann.

Here's a snippet from the strib article on Bachmann:

Talk of Bachmann's interest in the White House elicited mild surprise among political analysts, who thought her a more likely challenger to U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, a DFLer who faces reelection in 2012.

"It seems to me she's been floated for every possible office except Queen of England," said Washington political analyst Stuart Rothenberg.

LOL! The story already has 1215 comments. This should be entertaining...

9. Bingo on Pawlenty...he must be FUMING
When I heard the good news that BSC Michelle was eying the White House, I had the same thought, "Pawlenty must be FURIOUS...first Palin stealing his VP slot, now BSC Michelle! It's HIS TURN, dammit!" Plus didn't Thune throw his hat in the ring too? A neighboring rival. He can never get any attention. Ha.

Love the quote that "she's been floated for every possible office except Queen of England." Actually, not true! Haven't heard she's in the running to replace Robert Gibbs, but maybe Obama will float it yet. Gotta reach out in a bipartisan way to those Tea peoples.

You're right though...you now have a reprieve from your big Amy vs. Michelle decision. Guess you'll just have to find another donation opportunity!

Thanks for the nondonation donation response...agree w/DFL Princess that it's great.

10. LOL! Bachmann as WH Press Secretary.
Oh man, I hope Obama picks her. If not, I guess he could always go with Palin.

I'm hoping a donation opportunity comes along, like if someone were to primary Amy, for example...

I love sending the Congresspeeps snarky emails. Back in the day when most of them had published email addresses, I would send snarky emails to all 50 Senators when any major bill came up. Of course, I never got a response (aside from the canned ones) with one exception. There was one Senator who never failed to send a sincere reply that actually addressed my concerns. That Senator was Debbie Stabenow. (Granted, I'm sure it was a staffer or aide but the fact that they replied to a snarky email with a genuine response was very impressive. Amy's rude office staff could learn a thing or two from them.)

Let me know what kind of responses (if any) you get from your nondonation donation emails.
