Crowd gets raucous at Oberstar-Cravaack debate

Jim Oberstar and Chip Cravaack didn’t just face each other this morning at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center Auditorium, they faced angry mobs of their opponent’s supporters.

Just seconds into the first comments by DFLer Oberstar, Cravaack supporters began to shout the long-term incumbent down with calls of "liar" and "Obama Junior."

When the heckling on climate change grew louder, Oberstar accused the Cravaack supporters of being in the “flat earth society.’’ When he tried to rattle off statistics on warming trends, he was shouted down again with calls of “liar."

1. Anyone in Minnesota who doubts climate change

is either very young or has not lived here very long because they apparently aren't aware of how the winters have changed.

A couple years ago the Strib did a story on it titled "It's not your imagination - winter isn't what it used to be"

2. Sounds like tactics from last summer's listening town halls

where Republicans were crass, uncivil, and do everything to drown out the other view from not speaking. This should wake up many people in the 8th to Cravaack's base.

3. There should be people who can photograph the people who are doing this to compare

if it is the same people each time. I will bet anything it is the same people.
