1. I would like to know as well; although I'm in
South Dakota, I'm in the eastern part of the state near Sioux Falls and close to the border. If you do get something together, I'd like to join in, if I can get the funds together. There's no point in posting anything in the SD forum, it's been dead for a long time and nothing seems to bring it to life.

3. Welcome, liberalhistorian - what do you think ot SH-S?
Am curious of what you think of Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin.
I see she's part of the Democratic Congressional (DCCC) $28 million/40 district 2010 ad buy.

(For anyone who hasn't seen the list, NO ONE in MN is part of the DCCC ad buy. Tarryl Clark is probably the best candidate that could be up against bat crazy Bachmann, and she's not on their list. Appalling. The DCCC love to use Bachmann and John Boehner to fundraise but won't give to the Democratic candidates.)

Anyway, back to SD...just wondering about your thoughts on SH-S.

4. To be honest, I've been very disappointed with her this
past year and I'm especially disgusted at her leadership of the damned Blue Dogs. She's been acting more like a republican and sometimes appears to be a DINO. Problem is, she has a very fine line to walk, being the only rep for this entire state. Dems are, frankly, very much in the minority and liberal Dems even more so (never mind the hypocrisy of a state that rants against the federal government and screams that it's independent and self-reliant and we don't need no stinkin' gubmint-but then sucks down more federal dollars than 35 other states, especially farm and ranch subsidies, and would be nothing without such subsidies and without Mount Rushmore, which is paid for, maintained and operated by....the federal government). So she can get away with displeasing her Dem base and taking us for granted, and she has done so.

It's not the Dems she has to worry about, it's the repubs and the independents and that's why she caters more to them. It is, frankly, what the state wants (there are many times when I wished we lived in Minnesota, to be honest!!! I get so tired of the politics here at times, although it's not as bad as Wyoming or Utah, to be sure. As displeased and unhappy as I am with her, however, she's much better than the repub nominee, Kristi Noem, who is a Sarah Palin clone and would be an absolute disaster. We already have an absolute embarrassing disaster in a national politician, named Senator Thune, we sure don't need another. So I will, frankly, hold my nose and vote for her. And, at this point, I'm not sure if she's gonna pull it off this time. The independents are leaning toward Noem and that does not bode well for SHS.

5. Yeah, I'm disappointed with her too
I was glad when she won...have kinda checked in here and there on her votes and saw she was throwing herself into the Blue Dog charge. Which was my disappointment (Blue Dog leader).

I haven't checked the current polls or her opponent (obviously not good if Palin clone), but it appears she might be in danger. So what's the problem? SHS has been so Repub that what's the complaint...not Tea Bag enough? You know, as far as Thune goes, I honestly think if he were in a bigger, more strategically located state that he'd be pushed for a Presidential (or VP) run. He's their Type (as opposed to MN's Pawlenty).

Hey, if you lived in MN, you would just hear the Chamber of Commerce types screaming how we need to lower taxes more or all businesses will leave for...South Dakota! :-)

Thanks for the response!

2. I'd check around with AFL-CIO and unions; some of them could be sending buses or something.

Progressive churches, too, if that's your thing.
