Since such a clown as Emmer has been announced as GOP candidate, i have had a feeling that Emmer will be pulled after the primaries and another GOP will appear.. Like maybe Norm Coleman.

Emmer continues to show his true colors and his #'s are plummeting, will something so be "discovered" about Emmer that he has to step down and the GOP will just have to enter another candidate before the Nov election.

You know. that Shock and Awe that the GOP likes to do.

3. Just saw this story linked over at MnPublius
http://www.startribune.com/politics/blogs/99891299.html

Bob Carney, a Republican candidate for governor who has spent nearly all of his $1,000 in campaign funds on his filing fee and at Office Max, made primary voters an unusual proposition: Elect me on Tuesday and I'll quit.

Bow-tie wearing, video-creating, "moderate progressive Republican" Carney said in a news release that his offer to step out upon victory was conditional:

If the Republican State convention is reconvened, and endorses "a reasonable, mainstream candidate" for Governor, who will pledge to limit the use of unallotment, and to support an unallotment reform bill. Carney declines to name specific individuals he would accept, believing this would put such people in an awkward position. "But I want to assure the citizens of Minnesota, especially Republicans, that I will be reasonable in accepting a "mainstream Republican" as a substitute for Tom Emmer.

The mainstream Republicans and the far right loons are going to tear the party apart over this.

4. Emmer and some Republicans are so extreme they advocate castration
Edited on Sun Aug-08-10 05:04 PM by becxx
Just how crazy Emmer and some of the Republicans are is apparent from the 2005-2006 session. For a frightening view of what is in the minds of Emmer, Brod and others, see https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bin/bldbill.php?bill=H1131.0&session=ls84

The bill is H1131 from the 2005-2006 session and you can locate complete information on this bill at the legislature's web site.

These sick Republicans want to return Minnesota into a middle eastern tyranny or the dark ages.

We all want everyone protected from sexual predators but there is no reason to inflict the cruelty advocated by Emmer. The guy is sick, very very sick.

Emmer is the best chance the DFL has had in years.

The only way that can happen is if Emmer resigned the nomination otherwise they're stuck with him. Maybe they'll set him up somehow. Anyone else remember John Grunseth?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Grunseth

Jon Grunseth (born 1945) was a Minnesota politician and the 1990 Independent-Republican nominee for Governor of Minnesota. Grunseth won his party's endorsement and won its primary election, but was forced to quit the race nine days before election day in the wake of a scandal.<1>

Grunseth, a businessman and Ecolab Vice President of Public Affairs, earned the Independent-Republican Party's endorsement at their state convention, defeating moderate State Auditor Arne Carlson. He defeated Carlson again in the primary to become the main opposition to two-term incumbent Governor Rudy Perpich.

On October 15, 1990, it was revealed that, in 1981, Grunseth had invited three then-teenaged friends of his daughter, as well as his daughter herself, to go skinny-dipping in the pool at his home. The revelations severely damaged his candidacy, leading Carlson to re-enter the race as a write-in candidate.<2>

Facing certain defeat, Grunseth withdrew from the race on October 28, 1990. Carlson, the runner-up in the primary, replaced him on the ballot and ultimately defeated Perpich.<3>

Grunseth now lives in Barnes Bay, Bruny Island, Tasmania, Australia, where he purchased property in 1997 and founded Lennonville Orchards, a large cherry-growing operation.<4>

There's a real nasty joke in the fact that a man caught skinny dipping with teenage girls is not running a cherry-growing operation. (I should be ashamed that my mind works that way.)

6. You're assuming the smart sane ones who like to
win elections are in charge of the MN GOP.

If they were, I doubt Emmer would have picked in the first place.

7. They aren't smart enough to figure out that Emmer is a loon like Palin.
They just want to suck up to the teabagger contingent, which they may find is a whole lot smaller than they thought. They just make a lot of noise.
