Hello Minnesota - my daughter and SIL have moved there
Edited on Tue Jul-13-10 06:19 PM by rurallib
They just moved to Minnesota and live in suburban Minneapolis.
So what would DUers recommend they do for the Twin City/ Minnesota experience?
And they do plan on staying a loooong time.
ETA - money is a consideration -----

2. I recommend that they live here a long time and explore slowly.
There's too much to do and see to narrow it down.

4. Go out and work for good Democrats, help rid the state of Bachmann, Emmer, Kline and Paulsen
And the rest of the maggot Republicans in the state legislature ...

Or were you looking for touristy things to do?B-)

Go canoe on the Upper St. Croix River for starters. Welcome to Minnesota!

5. Visit historic St. Paul
Downtown is the lovely Landmark Center, Library, Rice Park, Ordway Center, all in a square. Science Museum close by, and Mickey's Diner.

Check out the Como Zoo and Conservatory. http://www.comozooconservatory.org/cons/index.shtml

Then practice shoveling and learn about snow parking rules (not as easy as it sounds).

And do what Raindog said.

8. Attend performances by the Minnesota Orchestra, or just the
free summer jazz and pop concerts on Peavey Plaza in front of Orchestra Hall on concert evenings.

Enjoy some live theater. Many options to choose from.

Go to the Minnesota State Fair, preferably on a rainy weekday when it's not packed out.

Go to the North Shore of Lake Superior and enjoy the scenery and the cool breezes.

Explore the Mississippi River towns of Wabasha and Winona.

Try Vietnamese and Ethiopian food.
