That's all we could do, and we've clearly achieved our goal. Our hard work, paid off as much as it could.

We have managed to maintain a legacy for our great state!

So, here's, to us!

13. I did the same, as well as joined the phone corps, thanks to your
referral, Eric.

It hurts that we couldn't do more to help the other states. Kudos to the people who were able to pick up and actually go work on the ground in other swing states.

2. Yes, but....
....
I was at 'midnight madness' last night and until almost 2 a.m. went placing flyers on cars...had to do one last thing....

it was a great organization, highly motivated young and old (the guys I was placed with had to be in their 60s, maybe close to 70) and Gawd I had to admire their devotion and energy....

....but it don't mean shit if we don't get a Kerry-Edwards presidency...whatever we did right, we can export next time.

for now, we have to fight on...my feet are still sore from last fight but goddamn, we have to fight on...

3. Here in the 'reversed' NM, we are dealing with funky issues
I'm out here with 'election protection', and was told by 2 of our lawyers that the 1/3 of New Mexicans that voted early on touch screens w/no paper trail may have a problem.

An 11th hour decision was made last night to switch back to the old machines. There will be no comment until after the election. 2Lawyers with our group told me this. As I search the internet I can find nothing.............

I'm so confused.

Incidently, my precinct went 2-1 for Kerry.

4. As a T-shirt I saw at the Metrodome said:
"Swing State, My (Picture of a Donkey)"

There were literally hundreds of volunteers fanning out in all directions from the Shrine Center in South Minneapolis, combing the precincts in a very organized way beginning at dawn.

Teams were sent to neighborhoods over and over trying to find people who hadn't voted yet. If no one was home or people said they were going to vote later, we put a blue tag on the doorknob, and the next team to go out stopped there to ask if it was "later." If they had already voted, we turned the tag over to reveal the red side that said, "We voted."

Each neighborhood received at least three visits.

5. Amen to that, bucknaked!
At least I don't have to sell my house in this terrible market and move to the left coast. Whew!

President Bush, president smoosh. I only regret that John Kerry will not be #44. *Sigh*

I call bedtime. Maybe tomorrow will bring better luck.

Way to go MN!

10. Actually Kerry did well in the burbs...
and the DFL won a few state house seats there, too.

If anything, this election re-energized the party after the 2002 debacle. We kicked some serious @$$ in the face of a lot of Repuke cash. The state house is even. We still have the state senate.

And Pawlenty's shaking down the Indians so he won't violate his "no new taxes" pledge.

MN GOP == SCREWED IN 2006

7. A week ago...
Before I was starting to get that "good feeling" around noon on Nov. 2, I told myself I was OK with a Kerry loss as long as MN went blue. (Not OK, of course, but I would take MN going blue as my cold comfort for the night.)

I am so proud of this state. I have my own internal battles with the DFL on a state and local level but I am proud to call myself a DFLer and this morning I am proud to be a Minnesotan.

Thanks to all of you!

8. Yes. All of the volunteer hours paid off.
I'm really glad I got out and canvassed as much as I did. The huge turnout in the metro area really helped us out. I'm still stiff and sore but that will go away. The Kerry win in MN will not.

9. BTW, this needs to be rubbed in Coleman's face!
Since he's outlived his usefullness (actually, he never delivered) he's now going to find out how irrelevant he really is to this administration.

12. Tired, sad, but energized
I was so tired after walking and knocking on doors last night that I fell asleep after Jon Stewart, not knowing how the final results would go. I was sad today at work to hear that Kerry conceded, but I am so proud of us in MN to go blue. We canvassed, we called, we registered new voters in droves (my senate district team registered over 1000)and we won several house seats through our Adopt-a-Suburb campaign. It was weird door-knocking in the burbs where the houses are so far apart and there are NO SIDEWALKS !!!

Anyway I am proud of our efforts and energized that with continued letters to the editor, jamming the phone lines to Washington, and continuing to lobby our reps at the state and federal level, we will make ourselves heard, and they will recognize that we can advocate for our side just as persistently and just as loudly as the anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-privacy, anti-open-minded, anti-generous repugs.

When I was canvassing Tuesday night, I stopped at a black barbershop, and one of them noticed my Christians for Kerry button. He said, I didn't think there was such a thing. I reminded him that Jesus taught us to comfort the sick, the poor, the inmates in prison. I reminded him that Jesus taught us that in our warm homes, with a full stomach, we were to remember the homeless, the hungry, the thirsty, the troubled, and have pity on them. I told him that I was THAT kind of Christian and that was why I was supporting Kerry. I told him that Bush was the sorriest Christian on this planet and didn't deserve the label.

We will continue to speak out. Kerry will go back to the Senate, instead of the White House, but he has given us a gift: the gift of hope for reclaiming sanity for our country.

14. Would feel worse (if that's possible)
if MN had not pulled through for Kerry.

We had to work our asses off to get a majority of votes, but it was worth it.

I'm especially proud of all the first-time voters. Hats off to them.
