1. weeeellllll It was quite fun
I was late like always. took light rail so no hassle with parking.
By the time i got there was people going inside already and many many many people passing out flyers and "educating".. calling for single payer, or health care for all.. that type of thing.. and then a small teabagger group. What a complete 180 from protesting when the previous Prez or his co-horts came to town. We were up front.. had a lot of FREEDOM. Many debated with the teabaggers.
No body was put in "Free Speech Zone" Nobody was put behind a row of dump trucks or buses.

In fact even teabaggers could go inside, but I don't know if they wanted to.

I went to pass out flyers for a single payer rally that is happening at Corporatecrate Klobuchar's office. and other flyers.. I didn't think I would go in or that there would be seats left but I was able to and it was great.. except Obama is caving. It seems he leaving out public option.. and never said the word Single Payer.. eventhough the bill with the most co-sponsors is HR 676.
Anyhow, I was in the balcony and several times Yelled out "SINGLE PAYER".. I know I'm loud so I'm sure some heard me. When Obama mention.. how will be pay for it.. Many of us Yelled: "END THE WAR ! ".
So that was good.
I wish more yelled single Payer and I really wish we had enough to get a chant going.. but I knew that was a long shot. I was saddened Obama has leaned so far over to the right. He and the Democrats are losing more Progressives and we are the ones who pushed him over so Hillary didn't win. Not that we didn't knwo this would happen.. it still sucks anyhow.
** We have to hope supporting people like Conyers, Ellison and other Progressives will help.

What a wonderful group of people going inside.. much unlike the crowds that went in to see Bush and Co.

There were many, many cameras so I'm sure there will be lots of video and pictures.

7. upload the pix to a web space
if you don't have web space, try flickr or photo bucket
then come back here and post, using the full url of the pix
(i.e.: http://mywebspace.com/my picture.jpg)
in your post. be sure to preview your post first.... there is nothing more frustrating than pix that don't show up. good luck!

4. I was there today. Here's some pics

Waiting to get in...

The venue...

The World's Biggest Obama Fan, or so says his tee-shirt. He's about 8 feet tall. Sorry about the quality... I wasn't that close.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebilius spoke first

Obama speaks:

The crowd shows enthusiasism:

And before leaving he works the crowd a little:

Outside were protestors, both real and mocking

Real:

Mocking: (the guy with the blue had and green sign is wearing a tee shirt that says "Bush 04: Eat The Poor")

The expression on this protestor's face is excellent!

:-)

8. Idiots
Be tolerant of those who are lost on their path. Ignorance, conceit, anger, jealousy and greed stem from a lost soul. Pray that they will find guidance.

16. They guy in the blue cap
behind the mockers looks like he doesn't quite know what to make of it...... :)

One thing that struck me when watching Obama talk to people after the rally was that the SS guys are REALLY on their game.

19. Thanks for the photos (Krispos & fulllib)
I liked the counterprotesters (Bauhaus guy & Bush "Eat the Poor" guy).

I love the Billionaires for Wealthcare people too (who were at the DC Racist Rally yesterday). We should start a chapter here (looks like fun - they don't get the mocking either).

20. Um... that anti-immigrant healthcare guy is pretty brown.
I'm pretty sure his gene pool is not from this continent. But then, neither are the white protesters' so I suppose there's no hypocrisy going on there. :eyes:

22. I think I may have went to school with the "world's biggest Obama fan"
I can't tell for sure because the picture is blurry, but he is one of the tallest men in the world and he lives here in Minnesota. He is a Russian immigrant who moved to Rochester when he was in second grade to be treated for his rare disorder that caused him to grow to such an enormous size, he went to my elementary school and he was already seven feet tall when he was in second grade. He had surgery at the Mayo Clinic that stopped him from continuing to grow, if he had not had that surgery who knows how tall he would be today. He towered over everyone in the school, he is by far the biggest person I have ever seen in my life.

21. So I see in one of inside shots you can see on the big screen closed captioning
it says "cheers and applause" - did anyone hear if that idiot Sarah Janacek has hit the media yet shrieking that the crowd was "told when to clap" like she did after Wellstone's memorial?
