Elwyn Tinklenberg, a Democrat who ran against Republican U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann last year, sent out an email today telling folks that he is going after her again.

In his pitch, he promises that he's "become a better candidate" since losing last year and in a fundraising post script, tells folks he knows he'll have to raise more money earlier this time around.

Last year, his campaign saw a sudden and massive late influx of cash after Bachmann suggested that then presidential candidate Obama "may have anti-American views" on national television but he still lost the race.

Although Tinklenberg's email focuses on Bachmann -- whom he claims serves a "small radical fringe motivated by distrust and fear" -- he'll have to get through another Democrat before he could face her. Maureen Reed, a Democrat and a doctor, has been in the race since May and has already raised $232,000. In addition, Assistant state Senate Majority Leader Tarryl Clark, DFL-St. Cloud, is toying with getting into the race.

1. I think that if the DFL seriously gets behind the candidate,
whichever one wins the primary, Bachmann is eminently defeatable in 2010. Her moronic commentary should be enough to either drive some GOP voters to the Democrat or drive them away from the polls altogether. The race was close in 2008, and Bachmann is even more moronic than she was then.

2. With the primary not until September,
the candidates need to get together and agree to abide by the endorsement. They don't need to spend next summer running against each other.

3. Agree! The #1 focus must be on getting her out of there.
She has to go.

4. Though, winning in the 6th district next year could be a mixed blessing

Rumor has it that, if we lose a Congressional seat after the 2010 census the 6th will pretty much be swallowed up by other districts as it's the one that boarders more other CDS than any of the others.

Continuing the "if we lose a seat" specultion, the other tidbit I've heard is that the 4th District will expand to include Stillwater (where Bachmann lives). With that scenario, if Bachmann is running in 2012, she'd have to run against Betty McCollum. So if we're not rid of her in 2010 she'd most likely be dumped in 2012.
