1. I've never understood why he's a Democrat either
Actually, maybe he'd say he's not - it's just the "F" in DFL, but that's just a guess.

Does anyone seriously run against him in the primary?

Speaking of the DFL, what are they doing to encourage (gasp!) progressive candidates to knock off:
Bachmann - has GOT to GO (she'll bring in non-state money - against her, that's for sure)
Paulsen - needs to go (before he gets a 2nd term, a familiar name & turns this into 30 years or whatever like Ramstad)
Peterson - why does Waxman need to waste his time cowtowing to Peterson?
Kline - does he do anything? boy, I never hear his name...not that I want to...but of course needs to go

Pretty damn sad collection we go there. <sigh>

2. The DSCC & DCCC will do all they can to see we never nominate another Wellstone
look how they jumped into Klobuchar's race and shoved her down our throats. I'm surprised they didn't push Franken more - unless they thought he had it sown up and Nelson-Pallmeyer wasn't a threat or maybe they just figured Coleman would win and that would be fine with that pack of DINOs.

As far as Peterson goes - he may claim to be a farmer, but he's no Farmer-Laborite.

3. Yes, speaking of the DFL
If it will not get its act together, we will have governor Bachmann.

We have been here since 2002 and I think that both gubernatorial candidates were bad, or simply ran a bad campaign. And, frankly, it is because the party endorsement system.

The candidates coming from these conventions may appeal to the party hard liners, but not to the general population.

I kinda remember Hatch running mate was running in 2002 and than bowed out. I think that she could have beaten Pawlenty.

And I think that if we had a primary system Bonoff may have been the 3rd district candidate and would have had a better chance against Paulsen than Madia.

Same for our US Senate candidate.

4. Bonoff wouldn't have been much of an improvement over Paulsen
she's more of a Blue Dog type.

And I don't think it would have mattered much who the DFL candidate was as long as the Independence Party is a player.

5. I don't think he has been viewed as a real dem for years and years. He has to go.
All of them mentioned have to go.

6. Kline is my district's rep ...
... he won't even appear at public meetings anymore in the district, instead preferring telephone-based "town hall meetings" with pre-screened participants.

For a former military officer who includes that same photo of him in uniform "carrying the nuclear football" for Reagan on every single piece of campaign literature, U.S. House updates and such his office sends to our homes, you have to question why he isn't up to the task of answering the questions of constituents in a public forum.

7. Dan Powers is running for the DFL endorsement to run against Kline
He's in my SD (which is split between Bloomington & Burnsville, I'm in the 3rd District). I don't know him real well, but like what I do know.

Here's a link to his website:
