Elected to position: 1 (Page)
Appointed by Democrat: None
Appointed by Ventura: 1
Appointed by Republican: 3, 2 of them by Pawlenty and 1 by Carlson

Two justices were recused because they were on the election canvassing board.

2. And two justices who recused themselves are
Chief Justice Eric J. Magnuson and Justice G. Barry Anderson. Both Pawlenty appointees and both with enough integrity to step back from this because of their previous involvement. I don't believe there has been any criticism of how they conducted themselves while on the canvassing board.

I think we are lucky in Minnesota in that our judiciary has not been politicized and I do believe this case will be decided on merit and current state law. I worry about what allowing judges to actively campaign for their seats will do to the judicial branch.

4. I think they are going to take at least two weeks
to make their ruling as appeal-proof as possible. Of course Norm will take this to the SCOTUS, but Pawlenty will have no more excuses to not sign the election certificate and seat Franken in the meantime.

6. I hope you are right.
I'm sick of the whole thing and want Franken seated ASAP!
