Star Tribune files Chapter 11
Just tonight:

http://www.startribune.com/local/37685134.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUUs

So they get rid of Eric Black, Doug Grow, Nick Coleman, etc., rely heavily on wire services, what's the incentive anymore?

1. The Strib has sucked out loud lately.
The only thing they've done right is get rid of the odious Katherine Kersten.

2. I was just about to post that
There goes the last of the big media in the Twin Cities. I agree it has sucked royally since Avista took them over.

4. They shouldn't be allowed to escape their debts...
...by declaring bankruptcy, as long as Avista has money.

Make Avista pay the Star Tribune's debts.

3. Harken back to when they were sold to an "investment company" - the writing was on the wall then

I dropped the Strib like it was hot when they got sold to an investment company no one had ever heard of. Then they jettisoned their talent and now they're going to be carved up by vultures.

5. When the high school kid tried to sell me the paper a few months ago,
I said 'no' because they offshored the graphic design division.

Hearing how he wanted to go to college to be a big sports player and how his school would help if he sold x amount of copies didn't help the cause either (they teach kids to become overpaid people who throw balls and run around?), and he didn't seem to understand what an "offshore" was, but whatever... he's only 8...

6.  Heard that Star Tribune lastest was to try to break the Union.
Heard that they tried to force the Union to have their members take a 1/2 the pay, paycut.

Let them crash,, we have so many local good papers.. wish we had a Co-op Newspaper to cover the majority of the area.

7. 1/2 the pay...
Now, if they would just let Sid go and hire some new kid just out of college to cover sports, they'd save a ton of money.
