1. I would vote for him, he would make a good governor
but right now the religious right has red meat to go after him with that story about the upcoming gay marriage bill (which I support in principle, not timing) this coming session. He would be smeared as too much out of touch in rural Minnesota even though he will do good in the Twin Cities inner metro.

2. I think he would be a great Governor.
He is one of the best legislators in Minnesota, I think he would be a great candidate.

3. I like John Marty -
but he lost big last time he ran for governor. Of course that was against Carlson by rights he should do better against Pawlenty as long as the Indpendence party stays out of it.

4. I'd vote for him

He was a great adviser to the 2004 Minnesota Kucinich campaign. If he's smart, he'll call upon the volunteers who gave Kucinich one of his best national showings (17% statewide, as opposed to an average of 3% in most other states).

5. I thought he was ok until he blocked legal protection for children of faith-healing families.

He thinks it's ok for children to die needless painful deaths because their parents refuse medical treatment.

7. Marty Foolishly Supported Rep. Mark Olson's Pod Boondoggle
http://www.apple-pie.org/ttp/default.asp?articleid=25

$30 million for Personal Rapid Transit (PRT). This is a very promising, but still untested Minnesota technology that would be much less expensive to build and operate than LRT, while delivering passengers to their destinations faster. $6 million would be used for final engineering studies and development of a prototype of PRT. After completion of the engineering study, the state would be able to invest the remaining $24 million to construct one or more local PRT systems.

I wrote to him and asked whether he still supported it... no reply.

If he still supports the pods, he's an idiot.
