McCain campaign leaves MI but may spend more in MN.
As if there weren't enough TV ads for John McCain in Minnesota already:

===================================
http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20081002/pl_politico/22895

"McCain will go off TV in Michigan, stop dropping mail there and send most of his staff to more competitive states, including Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida. Wisconsin went for Kerry in 2004, Ohio and Florida for Bush.

A McCain aide confirmed the move and chalked it up to the state's Democratic tilt and the resources Obama had put in place there.

"It was always a long shot for us to win," said the aide.

McCain will now turn his attention to bolstering his defenses in Ohio and Florida while putting more resources into Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and the second congressional district of Maine, where there is a sole electoral vote available.

1. McCain carries Minnesota, when Bush* couldn't? I don't buy that at all.
McCain must be loading up in Ohio and Florida, because those are close.

2. Electoral College Sucks
Just more proof the electoral college is broken beyond repair. All this tells me is that if I live in Bangor my vote is worth something but if I live in Saginaw I just don't matter. Obama does this to he just isn't as public about it.

4. Oh, I disagree!
I think McCain SHOULD spend lots of money here. Total black hole for his campaign warchest. We've been pounded with anti-Obama/pro-McCain ads for a couple of months and Obama STILL has a double-digit lead. At this point, I think McCain's ads are hurting him far more than helping.

5. What Polls Are You Looking At
Every poll I've seen for the past month has Obaba up 3-5. There are even a couple out there where McCain has a 1 point lead. Obama will carry Minnesota but it will be 54-47 at the most

6. The Opinion Research one from a couple of days ago.
Obama up 54-43. BTW, 54+47=101.

I still welcome McCain to waste his money here, leaving less for closer states.
