Dear Peacemakers.

It is only one week until the Republican National Convention
will take place in St. Paul, and we are busy working on last-minute
details. Almost all is prepared. When the Republicans decided to
hold their convention in St. Paul, a voice whispered "If you build
it, they will come." We have built it . . . and now we are looking
forward to people from all over the country converging on St. Paul on
September 1, 2008, to participate in a rally and march against the
war in Iraq that will make history right here in our own Twin Cities.

MARCH ON THE RNC AND STOP THE WAR
September 1, 2008, St. Paul, MN
Rally at the State Capitol at 11:00 am
March to the Xcel Center at 1:00 pm

U.S. OUT OF IRAQ NOW! MONEY FOR HUMAN NEEDS NOT FOR WAR

This will be an historic event for Minnesota with tens of
thousands of protestors, a thousand media personnel, and the
participation of hundreds of important organizations from around the
country. The opening rally will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, and
will be followed immediately by the march. There will also be a
closing rally after the march, which will end at 6:00 pm. Both
rallies will be at the Minnesota State Capitol. Our intention is to
have the majority of speakers during the opening rally, with more
time for music at the closing.

On September 1, 2008, the whole world will be watching as the
Republicans meet to nominate their next candidate for President.
This is the time to take to the streets of St. Paul to raise our
voices against the war and the occupation of Iraq. Theft, torture
and murder are part and parcel of the war in Iraq. The politicians
need to hear that we do not support what they have done -- spending
billions of taxpayer dollars on an illegal and immoral war and, at
the same time, cutting programs that serve the needs of people at
home, as they blame the most exploited for their hardships.

The Republicans picked Minnesota, betting that activists from
around the country would just stay home. Politicians who support the
continuing war in Iraq hope that we will stay quiet. Let's prove
them wrong in the streets of St. Paul. Together we can change the
world.

For more information, please check out the following
websites: marchonrnc.org for information on the September 1 rally
and march, protestrnc2008 for a calendar of events September 1 - 4,
and peaceisland. us for information on a wonderful alternative
conference that is taking place on September 2 and 3.

Peace in the Struggle,

Any idea where the MSNBC folks are going to be set up? Does anyone know where various media will be set up?

3. Yet another reason I'm glad I'm taking that week off work
One of my buildings is on the parade route, the other is across the street from the St Paul/Ramsey County jail. They are already erecting temporary barricades around the jail, screwing up traffice on Lafayette Rd.

This thing will be huge. No doubt about it.
